0220. David's Displeasure
David’s Displeasure
"And David was displeased, because the Lord had made a breach upon Uzza: wherefore the name of that place is called Perez-uzza" (1Ch_13:11).
David was displeased with the Lord, not with himself. He blamed God, not David.
How often do we bring upon ourselves merited censure and merited hurt, and then we blame God for it.
The same sun that burns, lightens our pathway. The same electric current that sends a bolt of death through the one who crosses its pathway, sends power to the one who harnesses it.
The God Who slew Uzza, and Who slew Christ, is the same God of Whom it was said: "In Him was life, and the life was the light of men."
"Behold, therefore the goodness and the severity of God." If we believe, if we receive, if we obey, goodness: if we reject, if we refuse, if we disobey, severity.
"He that believeth hath everlasting life."
"He that believeth not shall not see life."
A Levite, carrying the Ark–alive, blessed, rewarded.
Uzza touching the Ark–judged, condemned, dead in the road.
Had David read the Book of God, that gave minute instructions as to how the Ark should be taken, there would have been no breach made upon Uzza.
Let us seek causes. Let us examine the "why" before we blame results.
