0242. Recommissioned to the Gentiles
Recommissioned to the Gentiles
"And the Word of the Lord came unto Jonah the second time, saying, Arise, go to Nineveh" (Jon_3:1-2).
"For I will make you a name and a praise among all the people of the earth, when I turn back your captivity before your eyes, saith the Lord" (Zep_3:20).
After Jonah was vomited onto the land, he was recommissioned to go to Nineveh, a Gentile city. When Israel is restored to her land, she is recommissioned to "be a blessing" and in her "shall all the nations of the earth be blessed."
The conversion of Saul of Tarsus is a type of the conversion of Israel. Saul was filled with bitterness toward the Christians, he was en route to Damascus, with letters of authority in his pocket. He was stricken down by the forth-shining of a great light from Heaven, a light above the brightness of the noonday sun. He heard a voice and cried, "Who art Thou, Lord?" The answer was, "I am Jesus, Whom thou persecutest." Then Saul trembling and astonished said, "Lord, what wilt Thou have me to do?" The answer was soon given: "I have chosen him to go far hence to the Gentiles;" and again: "He is a chosen vessel unto Me to bear My name before the Gentiles and kings and sons of Israel."
Israel filled with bitterness against the Christians, rejecting the Christians’ Christ, shall yet be stricken down by the forth-shining of the glory of the Lord’s Second Coming. Israel will cry, "Who is this that cometh from Edom (red), with dyed garment from Bozrah (the vintage)?" Christ will respond, "I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save." Israel will at once receive Him, the One with the wound marks in His arms. Immediately she will be commissioned to carry Christ’s name and glory to the Gentiles.
