249. Converting Power of the Cross

“Christ Crucified, the Power of God” (1Co_1:23-24)

What do the Scriptures say the Cross is? It is—

1. The burden and symbol of His sufferings for sin—Joh_19:17-19.

2. The lowest rung in the ladder of His obedience—Php_2:8.

3. The means by which reconciliation is made—Col_1:20-22.

4. The remover of the claim and curse of the law—Col_2:14.

5. The effective power to bless—1Co_1:17.

6. The cause of condemnation to those who despise it—1Co_1:18.

7. An example for the believer to follow Him—Heb_12:2; Mat_16:24.
