0253. Daniel, the Young Man

Daniel, the Young Man

There is such a prevailing idea that young men must have their "fling;" that all young men must be bad, before they can settle down and be good; that it is refreshing to open God’s Word and discover one young man, who, with his three friends, utterly repudiates such a false standard of ethics.

Young men may and young men should be clean from their youth up. Let the reader observe that if any young man thinks differently and defies the Word of God and dares to sow his wild oats, he will be sure to reap as he sowed.

Sowing the seed by the wayside high,

Sowing the seed on the rocks to die;

Sowing the seed where the thorns will spoil,

Sowing the seed in the fertile soil:

Oh, what shall the harvest be?

Sowing the seed of a lingering pain,

Sowing the seed of a maddened brain;

Sowing the seed of a tarnished name,

Sowing the seed of eternal shame:

Oh, what shall the harvest be?

Sowing the seed with an aching heart,

Sowing the seed while the tear-drops start;

Sowing in hope, till the reapers come,

Gladly to gather the harvest home:

Oh, what shall the harvest be?

Let us remember that the harvest is in the sowing. If we would reap unto life everlasting, we must sow in the Spirit. If we sow unto the flesh, we shall of the flesh reap corruption.

Let us take heed therefore how we sow.
