0285. Herod, a Christ-Rejecter
Herod, a Christ-Rejecter
From the time when Herod heard John preach, until Herod arrayed Christ in mock kingly robes and then set Him at naught, covers a period of only some three and a half years, and yet those years discover to us the whole downward trend of a Christ-rejecter.
It is said that Aaron Burr, during his college course at Princeton, was almost persuaded to become a Christian. One of the professors of whom he sought advice, urged him to defer his decision, and not to come to Christ under a wave of revival fire that was then sweeping the college. Burr took the advice of the professor and refused his Saviour. His history is well known. Never did he again come to that hour of decision and take his stand for Christ, and his story is one of shame.
