Loose Him

"Jesus said unto them, Loose him" (Joh_11:44).

We certainly do not want Lazarus left with his grave clothes on. Jesus Christ said, "Loose him."

Suppose the Lord had said to Lazarus, as he stood there bound about in grave clothes, and with his face wrapped about with a napkin, "Now Lazarus, testify to the fact that you are raised from the dead." No doubt, some of the skeptical in the crowd, would have said, "You may be raised from the dead, but you don’t smell like it." We need to be more than raised from the dead, we need to be loosed from the garments of the tomb.

God hath not called us unto bondage, but unto liberty in Christ Jesus.

We are not saved from sin’s presence, but we may be from its power.

We are not promised that we will never be tempted, but we are promised victory when tempted, over the world, the flesh and the devil.

Jesus Christ wants His children to yield themselves to Him and to yield their members to Him, as those who are alive from the dead.

Baptism is the type, not only of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and of our union with Him in His death, burial and resurrection, but it also is a type of our old man, "buried with Him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that we henceforth should walk in newness of life."

In Ephesians 4, we are urged to "put off the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;" and, to "put on the new man." In Romans, God’s promise is very definite: "Sin shall not have dominion over you."

Jesus Christ hath not saved us from sin’s penalty, to leave us bond slaves to sin’s power.

Our Lord will lead us in the train of His triumph; His victory shall be ours; in Him, we will be more than conquerors.

The greatest need of the hour is saints who are saintly; lovers of God, who are lovely; and the washed white, living white. Let us remember the words of Christ: "Loose him."
