0333. TRUE HEARTED SEEKERS.

0333. TRUE HEARTED SEEKERS.

TRUE HEARTED SEEKERS.

"They shall ask the way to Zion with their faces thitherward, saying, Come, let us join ourselves unto the Lord in a perpetual covenant that shall not be forgotten" (Jer_50:5). They ask-

1. The way to Zion. They are honest enough to confess that they do not know the way. They are not ashamed to take the place of anxious inquirers, acknowledging that they have been in the wrong way. They declare plainly that they seek a city (Heb_11:14).

2. With their faces thitherward. This is another evidence of an honest, inquirer. They don’t inquire with their faces toward Sodom, like Lot’s wife. They ask, not theoretically, not for curiosity, not hypocritically, but honestly and with a downright practical object in view. "Ye receive not because ye ask amiss" (Jam_4:3).

3. That they might join themselves unto the Lord.

They are anxious not merely to join the Church, but to join themselves to the Lord. It is Himself they seek. They know that there is Salvation in none other Name. Like the Greeks, they say, "Sir, we would see Jesus." When a man has deserted from the service of Satan he will surely be desirous to enter’ the Zion of Salvation.

4. That they might make a perpetual covenant.

They are willing and prepared now to bind themselves to the Lord and His service all the days of their life (Luk_1:74-75). To be saved by the Lord means to be married to Him. "Ye are not your own, ye are bought with a price, therefore glorify Him in your body and your spirit which are His" (1Co_6:20; 1Co_7:23).
