0340. Jesus Christ Sent From the Father
Jesus Christ Sent From the Father
"When the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.
"And He shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you" (Act_3:19-20).
1. Peter says that God will send Jesus Christ. There are many to-day who have given up the blessed hope of the Lord’s return. Peter never gave it up. Even at the very close of his earth life, when he knew that he must soon put off his earthly tabernacle, he was still stirring up the saints and pleading with them to keep in remembrance the blessed hope of the coming Kingdom of the Lord Jesus Christ.
There may be those to-day who deny the coming and who doubt the verity of prophecy, but Peter believed that the Word of Prophecy was "a Word made sure, whereunto we all do well to take heed" (2Pe_1:19).
2. Peter knew what was going to occur at the coming of the Lord. He calls it, "the restitution of all things spoken by the Prophets." Peter recognized Moses and Samuel and David as Prophets as well as those known as the major and minor Prophets. He knew that these all taught that the restoration would include three things.
(1) It would include the restoration of the land to Edenic glory.
(2) It would include the restoration of Israel to Palestine.
(3) It would include the restoration of the Kingdom with Christ Jesus, Son of God, born of the Davidic line, upon the throne.
