WHO IS ON THE LORD’S SIDE?

Exo_32:25-27.

1. There are but two sides.

1. The Lord’s side. The side of infinite wisdom and power.

2. The enemies’ side. The side of human pride and devilish hate. A company of blind weaklings, glorying in their strength, and making gods for themselves out of their own perverted imaginations.

2. These two sides may be indiscriminately mixed up. It was so here in the camp of Israel. The idolaters and the worshippers of Jehovah mingled freely together. So is it now. The tares and the wheat are growing up together.

3. The need of separation. The-

1. Call for it. "Who is on the Lord’s side? Let him come unto Me." Let him come out and take his stand by him who lives and witnesses for God." Come out from among them, and be ye separate" (2Co_6:17).

2. Reason for it. "The sword of vengeance was about to go through the camp" (Exo_32:27). The judgments of God are sure to overtake the presumptuous sinner.

3. Response to it. "The sons of Levi gathered unto him." Faithful preaching will always bring some right out for the Lord.

4.What this separation implies.

1. A public stand against everything opposed to God. Public sins call for the public testimony of the servants of Christ.

2. A consecration of themselves to the Lord. "Consecrate yourselves to-day to the Lord" (Exo_32:29). Dead to sin and alive unto God. To me to live is Christ. Who is on the Lord’s side?
