The Perspective–Grace in the Ages to Come

Jam_1:7

Note the ascending scale of God’s grace. The Key Verse reads: "That in the ages to come, He might show unto us the exceeding riches of His grace." First "grace," then "His grace," then "the riches of His grace," then the "exceeding riches of His grace."

The last two chapters of Revelation give us some marvelous foregleams of what lies ahead beyond the thousand years, but this verse leaps on and on, far past the scope of those glorious chapters.

THE AGES TO COME. Who can grasp them! And yet in those ages God will be ever unfolding some new manifestation of His grace. What surprises are in store for the saved. Does the Bible tell it all? No. The Word of God has revealed grace, but the "exceeding riches of His grace" will only be revealed as the ages of eternity pass along.

If energized by satan’s power,

I tread a thorny path;

The end thereof, is naught but pain,

The object of God’s wrath.

In sin, deserving that His wrath

Should fall in power on me;

Yet, oh what love, what wondrous grace!

The storm, it broke on Thee.

And, O, the power of His grace

To meet the sinner’s need;

Believing on the Son of God,

I’m "saved by grace" indeed.

Though dead in trespasses and sins,

I can both quickened be;

And walk in newness of that life,

The Risen Life, in me.

What joy this precious truth affords,

From Him I cannot part,

It fills the longing soul with peace,

And satisfies the heart.

He gives me all my poor heart craves,

In Him, I take my place:

He sweetly doth bestow on me

The riches of His grace.

Exceeding riches of His grace,

My yielded heart enthrall;

Eternal ages shall reveal,

In Christ, my "all in all."
