The Character of Saul–He Was Learned and Well Schooled

"Festus said with a loud voice, Paul, thou art beside thyself; much learning doth make thee mad" (Act_26:24).

Saul of Tarsus was brought up at the feet of Gamaliel. He had every educational advantage that his day afforded. He manifested the keenest of minds. His reasoning powers were far above the average.

The unsaved man may have both a high school, and a college education; he may carry numerous titles after his name, and still be a sinner. The fact is that "great men are not always wise, neither the aged understand judgment."

The natural man, no matter how trained, cannot receive the things of God. Spiritual things must be spiritually discerned. It was the wisdom of this world that crucified the Lord of Glory.
