406. Gospel

The Gospel we are called to preach is like the flowers, many-coloured, beautiful, and fragrant.

1. It is Divine in its source, for it is “of God” (Rom_1:1).

2. It is gracious in its bestowment, for it springs from grace—Act_20:24.

3. It is personal in its message—Mar_1:1.

4. It is life-giving in its begetting—1Co_4:15.

5. It is saving in its work—Eph_1:13.

6. It is full in its blessing—Rom_15:29.

7. It is powerful in its might—Rom_1:16.

8. It is practical in its out-working—Php_1:27, R.V.

9. It is glorious in its consummation—2Co_4:4. There is power in the Gospel we preach, but we need the power of God to preach it.
