The Result of Paul’s Message On the Coming of Christ

"How ye turned to God * * to wait for His Son from Heaven" (1Th_1:10).

The hearts of the saints at Thessalonica were led into the patient waiting for of Christ. They lived, looking for that blessed hope. They loved His appearing. They prayed about His return, saying, with John, "Come, Lord Jesus."

Those dear saints passed on into the Glory, one by one; they went by the death route. The Lord tarried, He did not come during their lifetime, but those same saints are still looking for the day when Christ shall arise from His Father’s throne and shall descend to the air. They know that at that time, the Lord will bring them with Him, that they will have their bodies raised and that they shall forever be with the Lord.

The saints at Thessalonica have passed into the Heavens, they have departed to be with Christ, but they are still looking forward to the day when Christ shall place His foot on the Mount of Olives. Then shall they come with Him and reign with Him in His Kingdom.

The Second Coming of Christ was a precious hope to them in their lifetime, now that they know as they are known, now that they see Him, face to face, the Second Coming of Christ is even a more precious hope than before.

With what rapture must Christ as He sits on the Father’s right hand, anticipate His coming again into the inhabited earth.

Illustration: As we write we are in Kansas City, Mo., sitting in the home of Mrs. W. L. Wilson, the daughter of S. J. Baker, deceased.

Brother Baker was a firm believer in the Blessed Hope. He has passed on, two years ago to see his Lord. To-day his daughter, Mrs. Wilson and the son-in-law, Walter L. Wilson are looking for that Blessed Hope. But who can say that the Hope of the Coming is less real to the man who has gone to Glory, than it is to the children who tarry here?

It is true that every saint above and the Lord Himself are all ardently expecting the hour when the Lord shall descend and the trump shall sound. Hasten, oh hasten, that blessed day.
