A Study of Psalms 37

The Names of the Wicked (Psa_37:1,Psa_37:9,Psa_37:20,Psa_37:22,Psa_37:38).

The Names of the Righteous (Psa_37:11-12,Psa_37:18,Psa_37:23,Psa_37:28).

The Attitude of the Wicked toward the Righteous (Psa_37:12,Psa_37:14,Psa_37:32).

The Attitude of the Righteous toward the Wicked (Psa_37:1,Psa_37:8).

The End of the Wicked (Psa_37:2,Psa_37:9,Psa_37:13,Psa_37:15,Psa_37:20,Psa_37:36,Psa_37:38).

The End of the Righteous (Psa_37:11,Psa_37:19,Psa_37:28,Psa_37:37,Psa_37:40).

Our Sevenfold Commission (Psa_37:3-4,Psa_37:5,Psa_37:7,Psa_37:9).

The 37th Psalm clearly distinguishes between the righteous, and the wicked. It is divided by the Holy Spirit, in such a way that any one can easily place in the balance, and weigh the two classes of people, that dwell upon the earth.

We cannot, by any means, in the brief space allotted to us, bring out all the marvelous beauties of this Psalm. The best we can do is to array three sets of comparisons over against the other, and then note our sevenfold commission.

The comparisons are:

First, The names of the wicked as compared with the names of the righteous. Second, The attitude of the wicked toward the righteous, as compared with the attitude of the righteous toward the wicked. Third, The end of the righteous, as compared with the end of the wicked.
