0512. The King's Wife

0512. The King's Wife

The King’s Wife

"King’s daughters were among Thy honorable women: upon Thy right hand did stand the Queen in gold of Ophir" (Psa_45:9).

The marriage has taken place. We have here no Bridegroom coming for His Bride, but a King, coming for His Queen.

The call to the marriage of the Lamb is given in Revelation 19. It occurs before the Lord returns as King. If there is, in Psalms 45, any reference to the happy nuptial feast, it is all hidden in the depths of those beautiful words of Psa_45:8 : "Out of the ivory palaces, whereby they have made thee glad."

The marriage now has been consummated, and the marriage supper has been enjoyed. The Lord comes as King and the Wife comes, the Queen.

Blessed thought! We are to reign with Him. He is to share with us the glory of His Kingship and His Kingdom. This passage presents the true sayings of God.

There has been a great deal of controversy concerning the Lamb’s Wife. There are some who have strenuously held that the Queen is the Church, and some have held that the Queen is Israel.

We do not care to be controversial, but the Queen cannot be living Israel, that is, the twelve tribes which are to be restored under one king. The simple fact that the marriage has taken place in the air, and that when the King comes, the Queen comes with Him makes that impossible. It is more than likely that the Queen may include both the ransomed and raptured Church, and also the ransomed and raptured saints of Israel and of all time. Of this we cannot speak with certainty. But, certainly, the Queen is made up from the raptured ones.

Now, married, feasting, joy increasing,

See! the Queen at His right hand;

There’s no more weeping, tryst she’s keeping,

Evermore with Him to stand.
