A Study of Psalms 51

The Plea (Psa_51:1-2).

The Confession (Psa_51:3-4).

The Consideration (Psa_51:5).

The Method (Psa_51:7,Psa_51:9).

The Soul’s Desire (Psa_51:10,Psa_51:12).

The Blessed Results (Psa_51:13-15).

The Desire of Jehovah (Psa_51:16-17).

The Future Application (Psa_51:18-19).

The 51st Psalm was spoken by a man who had known God, and who had once walked with God in sweetest fellowship. That man had fallen into sin. Nowhere does the Psalm even suggest that David thought he was lost; nowhere does he ask for salvation. He had not lost sonship but fellowship. He was seeking once more the joy of the Father’s face. He asked for restoration to the place of service.
