The Blessed Results

"Then will I teach transgressors Thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto Thee.

"Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, Thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of Thy righteousness.

"O Lord, open Thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth Thy praise" (Psa_51:13-15).

There are three blessed results which David knew would follow his full restoration to God. None of these could be realized, as long as he was living in known and unconfessed sin.

1. "I will teach transgressors Thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto Thee." No man has power to bring transgressors and sinners to God, while he himself is transgressing and sinning. They who bear the vessels of God must be clean. Only the vessels which are purged and sanctified are made meet for the Master’s use. God demands a clean vessel, and the world demands a clean vessel. Sinners will not hear the testimony of one who is like themselves. God certainly will not own such a testimony. Those who would win souls to Jesus Christ must be clean.

2. "My tongue shall sing aloud of Thy righteousness."

3. "My mouth shall shew forth Thy praise." David could not have sung forth the righteousness of God, nor showed forth His praises, as long as he himself was living in unrighteousness. His lips were sealed, his testimony was gone.

The little couplet is true which says, "Your life talks so loud, that I cannot hear what you say with your lips."

"We must ourselves be true, if we the truth would teach; It takes an overflowing heart to give the lips true speech."

Illustration: A woman once said something like this: "I can talk with other mothers’ children, better than with my own." We thought as she spoke, that perhaps her children knew her better than the children of others.

As long as the blood of Uriah was upon David’s hands, he knew that he could not sing or praise a righteous God.
