The King Praised

"To declare the name of the Lord in Zion, and His praise in Jerusalem" (Psa_102:21).

These words certainly look to the future. They have never yet been fulfilled, therefore they must await fulfillment. That the words are still future is also established by the context:

1. Psa_102:18 says, "This shall be written for the generation to come." Such words place the whole vision in the age to come. It is then, that a people shall be created who will praise the Lord. Israel will then become a new Israel; an Israel, re-established in the land.

2. The words must be future because Psa_102:22 declares that the name of the Lord shall be declared in Zion, "when the people are gathered together, and the kingdoms, to serve the Lord." Many of the Psalms are given to the praise of the Lord when He comes to reign as King of kings and Lord of lords. This is particularly true of the closing Psalms. Let us note some of them: Psalms 146 is one of the hallelujah Psalms. From Psalms 146 to the closing of Psalms 150, the final Psalm, there is one great hallelujah chorus. All of these Psalms recognize Jesus Christ upon His earthly throne.

Psalms 146 : "The Lord shall reign for ever, even thy God, O Zion, unto all generations."

Psalms 147 : "The Lord doth build up Jerusalem."

Psalms 148 : "Kings of the earth, and all people, * * let them praise the name of the Lord."

Psalms 149 : "Let Israel rejoice in Him that made him: let the children of Zion be joyful in their King."

When the Lord returns to earth, His praises will fill the earth, there will be no more mocking and no more jeers. His glory, like the glory of Solomon, will fill the world and all nations will praise the Lord.
