Delivered From Foolish Transgressions

"Fools because of their transgressions, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted.

"Their soul abhorreth all manner of meat; and they draw near unto the gates of death.

"Then they cry unto the Lord in their trouble, and He saveth them out of their distresses" (Psa_107:17-19).

The fools are not all dead yet. There are many described in the Word of God.

The one who says, "There is no God" is a fool.

The one who stays outside of the city of refuge, is a fool.

The one who draws sin with a cart rope, is a fool.

The one who fails to redeem his opportunity, is a fool.

The one who fails to believe all the words of the Prophets is a fool.

But yet, the greatest fool of all is that one who has known saving grace, deliverance from Egyptian darkness, and yet transgresses against the Lord.

Why is it that Christians sin? Why will they follow after iniquity? Sin always results in sorrow. Iniquity always brings anguish. The man who follows the way of the transgressor, surely is a fool. They soon get where misery consumes them. They are sick both in body and in soul. They abhor their food. They draw near to death–then they cry unto the Lord in their trouble.

It is still true, many people never pray until trouble drives them to the mercy seat. It is not in the day of prosperity, that men seek the Lord, it is in the day of adversity. How gracious are the word’s, "He saved them out of their distresses." Thank God, there is help for a fool, God will help him. He will send His Word and heal them, and deliver them from destruction.

We believe that in Psa_107:20, the "word" has direct reference to Christ. "The Word was made flesh and dwelt among us." Christ is the Divine Deliverer. He heals us and He delivers our soul from destruction.
