532. “Look Upon”
1. Inspection. “The priest shall look upon it” (Lev_13:43). An illustration of Christ inspecting the sinner to make him conscious of his guilt.
2. Appreciation. “Look upon the face of thine anointed” (Psa_84:9). God appreciating Christ, and blessing us for His sake.
3. Compassion. “Look upon mine affliction” (Psa_25:18; Psa_119:132). The Lord sympathising with His people in their affliction.
4. Confession. “What is Thy servant that Thou shouldest look upon a dead dog as I am” (2Sa_9:8). So says every contrite heart.
5. Qualification. “The Lord looked upon him, and said, Go in this thy might” (Jdg_6:14). When the Lord sends forth, He fits, furnishes, and encourages.
6. Recollection. “Look upon it and remember all the commandments of the Lord” (Num_15:39). Observe to practise.
7. Retribution. “The Lord look upon it, and require it” (2Ch_24:22). Men’s sins, in God’s judgment, will surely find them out.
