Praise God for His Worthy One–his Future Glory

"Wealth and riches shall be in His house: and His righteousness endureth for ever" (Psa_112:3).

The preceding subject gave, from Psalms 112, some gracious pictures of our Lord, as He was made manifest to men. It is for us now to discover, from the same Psalm, some statements concerning our Lord concerning His future glory.

1. "His seed shall be mighty upon earth." In Isaiah 53, the question is asked, "And who shall declare His generation?" The answer is given, "He shall see His seed." Our Lord died unmarried and childless. This was an ignominy, to the Jews. Yet, our Lord shall see His seed, for all who believe upon His name are the children of our God. His seed–His born-again ones–shall be mighty upon the earth.

In this age saints are despised and set at naught. They glory, to-day, in the Cross of Christ, by Whom they are crucified to the world. The time is coming, however, when the seed of the Lord will subdue the earth and be mighty. Jesus Christ shall reign and His saints shall reign with Him.

2. "The generation of the upright shall be blessed." Jesus Christ is the upright One of this verse and we, the redeemed, are His generation; that is, His born-again ones.

The 5th chapter of Matthew presents some of the blessings, and the happinesses, of those who inherit the earth. Praise God, for the joys which lie ahead. They are waiting to be revealed.

3. "Wealth and riches shall be in His house." When Jesus Christ reigns, He will reign with a greater wealth and riches than those which Solomon knew in the days of His greatest glory. The queen of Sheba said of Solomon, "The half was not told me." In Christ’s day, He shall flourish. The kings of the earth will bring their riches before the Lord and His house will be filled with glory.

4. "His righteousness endureth for ever." Jesus Christ will reign in truth and holiness. No cloud will darken His sky. His judgments will be righteously given, and truth will prevail.

5. "His horn shall be exalted with honour." The word "horn" in the Bible is descriptive of authority, of rule and of power. Jesus Christ shall be exalted upon David’s throne. He will be crowned with glory, and honored as King of kings and Lord of lords.

In His day the wicked will gnash their teeth and melt away and their desire will perish. The Lord alone shall be exalted in that day.

The five statements above, primarily true of Christ, are applicable to all, Jew or Gentile, who are in Christ. His people are one with their Lord.
