0560. REPENTANCE.

REPENTANCE.

Mar_6:12.

There is no virtue in our repentance if it does not bring us to God. Mere sorrow for sin cannot lessen the guilt. There may be vexation, and yet no repentance. Bible repentance is a great necessity (Act_17:30). Here it is connected-(1) With turning from all iniquity (Eze_18:30-31). (2) With turning to God (Act_26:20). (3) With faith in Jesus Christ (Act_20:21). (4) With forgiveness of sins (Act_3:19). (5) With salvation (2Co_7:10). (6) With receiving the Holy Ghost (Act_2:38). (7) With joy in Heaven (Luk_15:10). This is the repentance that needs not to be repented of.
