Israel’s Help–succored

"If it had not been the Lord Who was on oar side, when men rose up against as:

Then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us" (Psa_124:2-3).

We do not for a moment doubt but what there is, in this song of David, a reference to Israel’s deliverance from her overwhelming enemies in David’s day. There is just as surely a reference to her deliverance in the days yet to come. Sennacherib once came upon Israel as overwhelming waters. Then the Lord gave deliverance.

There is another day when the Lord will come to the help of His people. After satan has been cast down to the earth, he will throw out against Israel waters as a flood. He will seek to overwhelm her and to swallow her up quickly. What has been proven many times, will particularly, then, be true–God will succor His people. If the Lord was not on her side, she would have been altogether overcome, but bless the Lord, our God will not allow Israel to be given as a prey to the teeth of her enemies.

Israel will escape satan’s snares as a bird escapes out of the snares of the fowler. Israel’s help is in the name of the Lord Who made Heaven and earth.

Antichrist will lead his federated armies against Jerusalem. In that day, if it were not that the Lord were on her side, she would be swallowed up quickly.
