0590. Who Will Be Taken?
Who Will Be Taken?
"For the Lord Himself shall descend from Heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord" (1Th_4:16-17).
Enoch and Elijah present to us, pictures of the coming rapture of the saints. Enoch walked with God and he was not, for God took him. Elijah was carried to Heaven in a whirlwind of fire.
We are anticipating the sounding of the trumpet of God when our Lord shall descend, with a shout, and the dead in Christ shall arise and the living in Christ shall, together with the dead, be caught up to meet the Lord.
Who will be caught up?
Certainly, those who are His jewels, they will be His when He comes; and they that are "ready" will go in with Him to the marriage; and they that look for Him, unto them shall He appear the second time, apart from sin unto salvation; and those "in Christ," they will all be caught up.
"If I go, * * I will come again and receive you unto Myself."
His beloved disciples will be raised and "caught up."
Who will be caught up? Will you?
"Oh, joy, oh, delight, should I go without dying,
No sickness, no sadness, no death and no crying.
Caught up through the clouds, to the Lord, into Glory,
When Jesus shall claim His own."
Let us be anticipating that glorious day. It will be our "glad day;" the day of all our hopes. Let us be pressing toward that day–the day of our "up calling."
Let us not only assure our hearts that we will be among the raptured ones, and have entrance to our Lord, but let us seek an abundant entrance.
Let us particularly rejoice in the coming rapture because it means that we shall be saved out of the dread tribulation that is coming to try them who dwell in the earth.
"I see the last red bloody sun set
I see the dread avengers’ form
I see the Armageddon onset,
But I shall be above the storm.
There comes a moaning and a sighing,
There comes the teardrop’s heavy fall
The oath and agonies of the dying,
But I shall be above them all."
