0599. The Rainbow Bespeaks a Revived Earth
The Rainbow Bespeaks a Revived Earth
"The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose."
"It shall blossom abundantly, and rejoice even with joy and singing: the glory of Lebanon shall be given onto it, the excellency of Carmel and Sharon, they shall see the glory of the Lord, and the excellency of our God" (Isa_35:1-2).
The color of the rainbow about the throne was an emerald.
The rainbow did not carry the grey of winter, but the green of spring. It suggests at once to us, the fact that the earth which is still groaning and travailing in pain, will be delivered from its bondage of corruption.
Instead of the thorn, will come up the fir tree; instead of the brier, will come up the myrtle tree.
Every hill will melt with new wine.
The plowman will overtake the reaper.
The whole earth will laugh out with gladness.
The animal life will be delivered from the curse.
The lion will eat straw with the ox.
The leopard will lie down with the kid.
The wolf will dwell with the lamb.
The cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together.
The child will play with the asp and place its hand on the cockatrice’s den.
The moral world will be delivered from the curse.
The powers of darkness will be shaken.
Satan will be bound.
The false prophets and antichrists will be cast into the lake of fire and righteousness and peace will kiss one another.
Refreshing times will follow the judgments of our God as spring follows close upon the heels of winter.
Peter said: "Repent that the times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord." When "the presence of the Lord" time comes, the time of refreshing will also come.
Thank God, for the rainbow and its color of emerald–
Shine on, O blessed rainbow,
Thine emerald hue doth tell
That God will smile upon the earth,
And all things will be well;
The land with Eden glory,
Will yield the ripened grain,
And all creation shout for joy,
When Christ returns to reign.
