This verse has been called "The Gospel in Brief." Bengel affirmed it to be "The summit and marrow of Christianity." The Christian life is:

I. A Dying Life-"I am crucified"-dying daily.

II. A Living Life-"I live."

III. A Dual Life-"I-Christ."

IV. A Faith Life-"By the Faith."
