0630. Justification, Sanctification, and Glorification
Justification, Sanctification, and Glorification
"Therefore being justified by faith" (Rom_5:1).
"Christ is made unto us sanctification" (1Co_1:30).
"Who will fashion our vile bodies like unto the body of His glory" (Php_3:21).
The three words of our theme immediately carry our mind to the three places where faith sees Christ.
1. Justification. This is the work of the Cross. We are justified by His Blood. Justification settles the sin question and grants to the believer the imputed righteousness of Christ.
2. Sanctification. This is the word that is made real unto us through the risen Christ.
Sanctification includes separation from the world, cleansing in life, and dedication unto God. It is made possible by Jesus Christ, manifesting His power in us, through the Holy Spirit. When the Bible pleads: "I pray God that your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless, unto the coming of the Lord;" it also says: "Faithful is He that calleth you, Who also will do it."
The victorious Christian life can be realized only as the power of the risen, ascended, and seated Christ is appropriated in the believer’s daily walk.
3. Glorification. This word carries us to the Second Coming of Christ. Down here we have the treasure of the new life in an earthen vessel; down here we have this body of humiliation. It is when Christ comes again, in power and great glory that we will be glorified; then our bodies will be changed in the twinkling of an eye. We will be glorified and we will be with Him, and will behold His glory.
