Christ in the Midst Worshiped

"And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne, and of the four beasts (Living Ones), and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb, as it had been slain" (Rev_5:6).

1. Let us get before us, first of all, the setting of this wonderful scene. The time is still future, the place is in the air. The Church, doubtless, has already been raptured and the judgments that are to befall the earth during the days of tribulation are about to be sent forth.

2. Upon the throne sits the Son of God; in His right hand He holds a book sealed with seven seals. This book is opened in chapter 6, and the beginning of sorrows ensues, step by step, as each seal is broken.

The throne-sitter has a special mark–He is the Lion of the tribe of Judah; but He is also the Lamb, as it had been slain. As the Lion of Judah, He holds His earth-right to the kingdoms of the earth; as the Lamb slain, He settled the sin question and made His inheritance possible.

3. Gathered around the throne are various groups. There are the Four Living Ones, then the four and twenty elders, and then, in Rev_1:11, we find many angels, ten thousand times ten thousand and thousands of thousands.

4. In Rev_1:13, every creature in Heaven, and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea, seem to gather round the throne.

THEN WITH LOUD ACCLAIM THEY ALL WORSHIP CHRIST WHO IS IN THE MIDST OF THE THRONE. What painter has ever been able to paint this scene? What orator has ever been able to describe it?

In Rev_7:9-10, Rev_7:11 a fifth group is seen–the great multitude, who have come up out of the great tribulation. They also gather round the throne worshiping the Lamb.

What a day of rejoicing that will be; what honor and what worship will be rendered to Christ Jesus the Lord!

If the Lord Jesus, the Lamb of God is to be so greatly adored and praised in these Heavenly scenes, should He not be praised and adored here and now? Is Christ the center of all our worship? The Church at Ephesus was a good church, but had lost its first love. Is Christ Jesus our all in all? Does He have pre-eminence in everything?

If He is not Lord of all, is He Lord at all? If He is not everything to us, is He anything?
