0674. The Wisdom of the Angels
The Wisdom of the Angels
"My lord is wise, according to the wisdom of an angel of God, to know all things that are in the earth" (2Sa_14:20).
The passage above was spoken by a woman, concerning David. It reveals only this fact, that the woman recognized the "wisdom of angels," and compared David’s wisdom to theirs.
Moreover, from the general teachings of the Bible we may safely concede that angels have great wisdom.
1. Satan is described in Eze_28:12, thus: "Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty." Satan was, doubtless, a prince among angelic beings, but if he was "full of wisdom" they too are wise.
2. Angelic beings have been created during so many ages, they also have been associated with God, and have been occupied in His service and been filled with His praises–surely they are wise. We may not think of them as knowing all things, as being able to foretell the future with unerring accuracy–but we may think of them as wondrous wise in the things which concern God, and man, and the whole creation.
