Angels Minister to Him in the Wilderness

"Then the devil leaveth Him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto Him" (Mat_4:11).

We may never know the loving deeds of these angels until we know as we are known. Certainly the angels had watched the Son of God as He met and vanquished the devil. Yet not one of them had given any aid. They only act as they are bidden. They live and move wholly within the mind of God. The tempter having left Christ, the victory having been established, the angels came and ministered to Him.

He Who had refused to doubt His Father, and He Who had refused to make bread for Himself, is now feasted by angels. What a hallowed time that was! Would we not like to have dropped behind the scenes, and with our eyes opened have seen the angels there with our all-conquering Lord?

No one need doubt the reality of the Bible story. Satan came personally to tempt the Christ, and the angels came personally to minister to Him. One was as real as the other.
