Two Angels Announce His Resurrection

"But Mary stood without at the sepulchre weeping * * and seeth two angels in white sitting, the one at the head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain" (Joh_20:11-12).

Blessed hour! What rejoicing! He Who was dead, has come forth! The weeping women found the two angels in the empty tomb. They heard their words, "Why weepest thou?" If we could only catch some of the glimpses beyond the tomb, which the angels enjoy, we would certainly not weep, when it is time to praise.

In Luk_24:5-6, the two shining ones thus address the women: "Why seek ye the living among the dead? He is not here but is risen: remember how He spake unto you when He was yet in Galilee, saying, The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified and the third day rise again."

Thus the angels who had announced His birth, announce His resurrection. And how they must have rejoiced. Some day, in Heaven, we will get some idea of the joy, the glory, the worshipful praise that was given on that happy day.

On earth a few disciples were begotten again to a lively hope, by the resurrection of Christ from the dead. But in Heaven one paean of victory followed another as the angels rejoiced.

Contrast poor doubting Thomas, saying: "I will not believe unless;" with, the raptured hosts of Heaven joining in: "He is risen indeed."
