0717. The Wonderful Word
The Wonderful Word
Psa_119:129 speaks of the Word of God as being wonderful. And in very truth, it is a wonderful Word. It is wonderful because it is penned of God. It possesses a wisdom that outreaches man; it shines forth with a glory, that is supernatural.
The Bible presents to us the precepts of God, it reveals to us the will of the Lord.
The Bible stands forth not only as a supreme Book, but as the Book which supplies every want, of every class and of every clime. The same Bible that met the needs of the aged seers of old, meets the needs of the seers of today. It is never obsolete.
The Bible is the one Book, which, implanted in the heart, produces life. It fills the heart with joy; it strengthens the saint, and gives him a new power to live for God.
The Bible has a historical accuracy, a scientific certainty and a literary beauty that surpasses every other book. It never over-steps, in its statements, any truth. There is but one name that becomes the central thought of every page; that is the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord.
The Bible is the one Book upon this earth that men could never have written, and, as some one has said, "It is the one Book that men would not have written if they could."
It is the purpose of this message to place emphasis on some of the wonders of this wonderful Word.
