0721. The Endurance of the Word

The Endurance of the Word

"For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof faileth away. But the Word of God endureth for ever" (1Pe_1:24-25).

Everywhere about us is change and decay. How refreshing then, ‘mid the things which fade, to be able to place our hand upon one thing that will endure forever. The common lot of man is expressed in the words so oft repeated in Genesis, chapter 5, "and he died," but the Bible never dies.

The heavens and the earth shall pass away with a great noise; they shall melt with molten heat, "but My words shall not pass away."

Every other book in the world has its day of popularity, and it passes into the realm of the forgotten, but the Word of God lives on and on. When at last we stand before the judgment-seat of Christ, the Word will be there in all its power, and the Word will judge us in that day.

Oh, wonderful, wonderful Word of the Lord,

The Word that doth never decay;

The flower may fade, the earth be dissolved,

But Thy Word shall ne’er pass away.
