791. Standing in the Will of God
“Stand perfect and complete in all the will of God” (Col_4:12). The wind was blowing the rain across the field, and drenching everything in its onward rush. A wise old horse in the field had gone under a sheltering tree, and had turned its back on the wind, and thus, standing with it, did not feel the blast of the storm as it would have done had it faced the elements. The horse’s sagacity set the writer pondering, and it said to him, “Stand with the will of God under the shelter of the Cross, and you will find things will not be as bad as if you were opposing it.” The will of God is:
1. The deliverance from this present evil world—Gal_1:4.
2. To serve the Lord in the daily avocation—Eph_6:6.
3. To work out our salvation by His willing and working—Php_2:12, Php_2:13.
4. To thank God for everything—1Th_5:18.
5. To be transformed to prove His will is perfect, good and acceptable—Rom_12:2.
6. To put to silence by “well doing” the ignorance of men—1Pe_2:15.
7. To endure for ever by not loving the world—1Jn_2:17.
