Rooted and Grounded in Christ's Love (Eph_3:17).

We Love Because He Loved (1Jn_4:19).

We are about to launch out on a shoreless and unfathomable sea. What is so vast as the love of Christ? Surely Paul did well to pray that the Holy Spirit might give us enlightenment that we might begin to measure the breadth and length and depth and height of that love which passeth knowledge.

It will be well to righten, if possible, a misconception on the part of some. There are those who imagine that Christ's love and God's love are separate and distinct. In fact some even think that God has no love for man; that all the love we get comes from the Lord Jesus Christ. God is imagined to be a God, foreign to pity, mercy, love and grace. All of this is far from the truth. It is God Who "so loved the world that He gave–." It is God Who "commendeth His love toward us, in that, * * Christ died for us."

In truth, it is impossible to separate the love of God from the love of Christ for the one was the counterpart of the other. In man's redemption, as in all other things, God and Christ were one. Christ was the forthshining of the Father, and, He interpreted the Father.
