Illustration: You have heard the story of the woman who asked her pastor to pray that she might have more patience. Together they knelt as he prayed. "Oh, God, send this good sister more trouble; send her persecution; put her into the lap of tribulation; heap up her trials"–The old saint could stand it no longer, and she cried, "Stop, pastor, stop; I do not want trouble, I want patience." "Well," replied the minister, "'Tribulation worketh patience,' and, 'Let patience have her perfect work.'"

To-day we study one of the choicest flowers which grows in the garden of graces. Its fragrance is most rare and precious. There is nothing we need, universally, more than patience; and, there is nothing God is more able to give.

The Lord Jesus Christ is our chief Example in patience. He manifested the longsuffering and patience of God everywhere He went and in everything He did.

Let us study this lesson to-day with deepening interest.
