3. The Church As a Bride–Salvation in Anticipation
"For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the Church" (Eph_5:31-32).
The Church as a building carries us to the Cross, the Church as a body carries us to the risen Christ, and the Church as a bride carries us to the coming of the Bridegroom. Eve was taken from Adam's side–the type of the Cross; then she was presented unto Adam and a marriage occurred–the picture of the Church, which Christ will present to Himself as a Bride, without spot or wrinkle. So the Church, as a bride, should be watching and waiting for the coming of the bridegroom.
