0886. 3. The 1st Epistle to the Thessalonians
3. The 1st Epistle to the Thessalonians
"And to wait for His Son from Heaven, Whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come" (1Th_1:10).
This Epistle has to do particularly with our Lord's return. Each chapter closes with an expression concerning the Second Coming of Christ.
Chapter Eph_1:10 says we are "to wait for His Son from Heaven."
Chapter Eph_2:19 says, "For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at His coming?"
Chapter Eph_3:13 says, "To the end He may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all His saints."
Chapter Eph_4:15-17, says, "For this we say unto you by the Word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord."
Chapter Eph_5:10 says, "Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him."
In the 5th chapter an exhortation follows, beginning with Eph_5:11 and through Eph_5:28. Thus we have seen that the First Epistle to the Thessalonians is prominently the Epistle of our Lord's return and presents, therefore, the third viewpoint of our threefold salvation.
