0893. Sharing His Riches
Sharing His Riches
"Who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in the Heavenlies in Christ" (Eph_1:3).
Christ was rich. He became poor. Through His poverty He made us rich. The poverty which He experienced was "our poverty." "He was made in all things like His brethren." The riches we experience now and are destined to experience in the ages to comes, are all His riches. We will be made in all things like unto Him.
1. He makes us rich in possessions. "For all things are yours, whether * * things present, or things to come" (1Co_3:21-22).
The father said to the elder son, "All things that I have are thine." Christ says of us in His prayer to His Father: "Whatsoever Thou hast given Me * * I have given them."
In Rom_8:17 we are "heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Jesus Christ." Thus we are enriched. The earnest of our inheritance we already have; but we shall possess our possessions in the ages yet to come.
2. He makes us rich in glory. "And the glory which Thou gavest Me, I have given them" (Joh_17:22). Is it not blessed of our Lord to share His glory with us? Not only will we behold His glory but we will inherit His glory.
When the Church is finally presented to Christ, it will be "a glorious Church, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing" (Eph_5:27).
The Queen will stand upon her Lord's right hand, she will be dressed in the gold of Ophir, she will share the glory with the King.
3. He makes us rich in our new bodies. Believers will be caught up to meet the Lord; they will be changed in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye. They will be given a body like unto His glorious body.
4. He makes us rich in all-glorious heirship. Rom_8:17-18 : "And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with Him, that we may be also glorified together. For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us."
Think of it! We shall not only be with Him; but we shall see His glory and we shall inherit, with Him, all things. None of us can comprehend the depths of this coheirship. But it will include the closest fellowship with the Father, an all-glorious environment, a joint-millennial reign, a residence in the New Jerusalem which descends out of Heaven from God, and the eternal riches of grace in the ages to come.
