2. Christ Our High Priest Will Cleanse Us

To be sure, our risen Lord and Priest writes unto us that we sin not. All provision has been made for us to walk a blameless walk. Victory over the world, the flesh and the devil is possible to all believers. Yet, some may, alas, stumble and slip by the wayside. Some may neglect the life of prayer; some may neglect the Word; some may forget to watch; some may ignore the presence of the Spirit Who dwells within–therefore we read:

"If any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous" (1Jn_2:1).

Our Paraclete will represent us to the Father, and "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1Jn_1:9).
