The New Birth in Christ

The Necessity of the New Birth (Joh_3:7).

The New Birth the Work of God (Joh_1:13).

Born of Water (Joh_3:5).

Born of the Spirit (Joh_3:6).

Born by One Who Came Down from Heaven (John 3 : I3, f. c.).

Born by One Who Is in Heaven (Joh_3:13, l. c.).

Born by the Cross of Christ (Joh_3:14).

Born by Faith in Christ (Joh_3:18).

Born by the Love of God (Joh_3:16).

It does us good, again and again, to review the simplicities of salvation. Here we have chosen to study the wonderful message which Christ gave to Nicodemus.

As the study goes on let us remember that the words we are considering were spoken to a man who was a Pharisee, a ruler of the Jews, and to one who was, a chief in Israel. If Christ said to Nicodemus, "Ye must be born again," surely the words will mean something to us, who are perhaps more corrupt than he was.

In treating the study we have held ourselves, almost exclusively, to Christ's own response to the question of Nicodemus. We take it for granted that Christ, Himself, gave the great underlying truths concerning the new birth in that response. We believe the lesson will prove our contention.

The new birth may be deep water to the unbelieving mind, but it is a well of precious, living truth to those who know God and love His Word.
