909. Two Natures
The two natures—Joh_3:6. Naturally we are the children of wrath—Eph_2:3; but through faith in Christ we are made partakers of the Divine nature—2Pe_1:4, R.V., margin, “a Divine nature.”
I. The natural man is a sinner in a threefold sense.
1. By his connection with Adam—Rom_5:13.
2. Because he has Adam’s nature—Gen_5:3; Rom_3:10.
3. Because he has committed sins—Rom_8:5.
II. Those who are believers in Christ are saints in a threefold sense.
1. Because we are identified with Christ—1Co_1:2.
2. Because we have the nature of God—Joh_1:12, Joh_1:13.
3. Because as saints we live saintly lives—Eph_5:3.
