1016. SELF-DEFENCE.
SELF-DEFENCE.
The shell-fish, after the calamary order, defends itself when pursued by diffusing an inky fluid round it. Its chief object is to create a black lookout to save itself. The manner of this dirt-stirring mollusc is not unlike those vile persons who blacken the character of others to save themselves, whose only refuge is a cloud of dust.
