1018. Israel Saved From Sin
Israel Saved From Sin
"And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:
"For this is My covenant nnto them, when I shall take away their sins" (Rom_11:26-27).
Israel shall be saved. Paul clearly states this fact, but states it as still future in his day: "And so all Israel shall be saved" (Rom_11:26).
Read how Isaiah put it: "And the Redeemer shall come to Zion, and unto them that turn from transgression in Jacob, saith the Lord. As for Me, this is My covenant with them, saith the Lord" (Isa_59:20-21).
Let Isaiah speak again: "Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? Or shall a nation be born at once? For as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children. Shall I bring to the birth, and not cause to bring forth? saith the Lord:
* * Rejoice ye with Jerusalem, and be glad with her.
* * Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river."
How beautifully does Jeremiah tell of the new salvation covenant that God will make with Israel, and with Judah. Listen to it; "I will put My Law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be My people * * for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more" (Jer_31:33-34).
Zechariah tells in chapters 12 and 13 how all this is to be done; "And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications; and they shall look upon Me Whom they have pierced and they shall mourn for Him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for Him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn. In that day shall there be a great mourning in Jerusalem. * * In that day there shall be a fountain opened to the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem for sin and for uncleanness. * * And one shall say unto Him, What are these wounds in Thine hands? Then He shall answer, Those with which I was wounded in the house of My friends * *. They shall call on My name, and I will hear them; I will say, It is My people, and they shall say, The Lord is my God."
Israel shall be saved through repentance, saved through the Blood of the Cross. Israel shall be saved as a nation, a nation whose people will universally place their personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
When Israel is saved she will bring forth fruits worthy of repentance. Her life will be clean. She who once was a shame, shall become a glory. She who once caused the name of Jehovah to be blasphemed, will cause it to be held in honor.
"Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you; * * and cause you to walk in My statutes, * * and ye shall be My people, and I will be your God."
When Israel is saved, her iniquity will be washed away. Zechariah says, "And I will remove the iniquity of the land in one day."
Oh, my brethren, God hath spoken! Let us then not keep our silence, nor hold our peace "till He make Jerusalem a praise in the whole earth." Her name shall no more be called "forsaken," but her name shall be called "Hephzibah," "My delight is in her." Her land shall be called "Beulah," "Married."
"Praise ye the Lord!"
