Paul or the Stormy Sea

A Discounted Warning (Act_27:10-11).

Human Reasons for Setting Sail (Act_27:12-13).

The Great Storm (Act_27:14-15).

The Sun and Stars Hidden (Act_27:20).

Hope Mid the Darkness (Act_27:22-25).

The Four Anchors (Act_27:29).

The Escape to Land (Act_27:41).

We have before us one of the most striking and stirring scenes recorded in the Word of God. It is the Holy Spirit's description of a storm on the Mediterranean. The authorities have placed the Apostle Paul in the hands of a Roman centurion. Against the advice of Paul, they are taking ship from the island of Crete, to a suitable place for wintering.

We do not claim that everything brought out in this study was an intended type. We do claim, however, that what is presented is most strikingly illustrative of actual facts and conditions which stand before the Church to-day. It seems that the very fact that so much space is given in the Word of God to the story of the storm is sufficient reason for seeking vital truths by way of spiritual application.

We trust that the study will be blessed by the Spirit of God, and that a real vision of the conditions which surround the Church to-day, and the way out, will be given.
