1262. The Glory of God
The Glory of God
This is one of the messages of II Corinthians that is too often overlooked.
When we speak of the glory of God we describe the heavens and the spheres that swing so majestically through them.
When the artist paints the glory of God, he portrays some sunset, or some scene of the mighty deep.
When the author writes on the glory of God he pens some word pictures of some mighty deed which God has wrought.
The glory of God, however, shines with a far greater luster, in the things set forth by the inspired writer in Corinthians, than in all of the things suggested above.
We need to behold the glory of God, as God Himself describes it. The promises of God are unto the glory of God; the law of God is unto the glory of God; the grace of God is unto the glory of God; the Lord Jesus Christ is unto the glory of God, and saints are unto the glory of God.
Let us consider the following statements–
First: "That no flesh should glory in His presence" (1Co_1:29).
Second: "Let no man glory in men" (1Co_3:21).
Third: "He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord" (1Co_1:31).
We need to seek the true glory–the glory that abides.
