1341. The Key of True Wisdom
The Key of True Wisdom
"I understand more than the ancients, because I keep Thy precepts" (Psa_119:100).
Our key verse is not the only one that shines forth with a glitter of glory from those marvelous statements of Psalms 119.
Psa_119:98 says, "Thou through Thy command ments hast made me wiser than mine enemies."
Psa_119:99 says, "I have more understanding than all my teachers: for Thy testimonies are my meditation."
Psa_119:104 says, "Through Thy precepts I get understanding."
Psa_119:169 says, "Give me understanding according to Thy Word."
When the Apostle Paul was seeking a companion for his travels he chose Timothy, and he wrote unto him saying, "That from a child thou hast known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation" (2Ti_3:15).
Surely the wisdom of God is revealed in the Word of God. It makes us wise not only to salvation, but it makes us wise concerning all the things of God.
"Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another" (Col_3:16).
The great need of the child of God is to know the Word of God. In it will be found the depths of the riches of the wisdom and the knowledge of God (see Rom_11:33).
What do we know about the things to come when we close our Bibles? If our Bible and its message was taken away, what would we know of death, of the resurrection, of the millennium, of the New Jerusalem, of Heaven, or of hell?
Before Nebuchadnezzar stood the wise men of his realm, the soothsayers, the astrologers and the Chaldeans, but they could neither make known the dream, nor show unto the king the interpretation thereof. Then was Daniel called, the mere youth that he was. He stood before the king and blessed the God of Heaven saying, "Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are His: * * He giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding: He revealeth the deep and secret things: He knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with Him. I thank Thee, and praise Thee, O Thou God of my fathers, who hast given me wisdom and might, and hast made known unto me now what we desired of Thee" (Dan_2:20-23).
Where is the wise man? Where is the prudent? Where is the understanding? It is he to whom God has spoken and to whom He has revealed His Word.
When Belshazzar trembled before the writing upon the wall, and was greatly troubled, the queen came in and said, "There is a man in thy kingdom, in whom is the spirit of the Holy Gods." Daniel was brought in, and Belshazzar said, "I have even heard of thee, * * that light and understanding and excellent wisdom is found in thee" (Dan_5:14).
When the wise men of this world stand with mouths closed, abashed before the writing of the Almighty God, then the servant of God, who has the wisdom from above, can make known the sense thereof.
