How to Study the Bible

Psa_119:9-16

Recognize the Bible as God-breathed (2Ti_3:16).

Receive the Bible in the Spirit (1Co_2:14).

Receive the Message into Your Own Life (Psa_119:11).

Retain the Mien of a Learner (Luk_10:39).

Rightly Divide the Word of Truth (2Ti_2:15).

Obey Fully Every Precept of God (Joh_7:17).

One may possess every qualification necessary to become a real student of any other book, and yet prove an utter failure as a student of the Bible. There are certain things indispensable in the study of the Holy Scriptures, which hold no place and demand no recognition in the study of human writings.

I would by no means ignore the various qualifications that are vital in the study of other books, in becoming a Bible student. They have their value, without doubt. But they are not of primary importance. The more important things without which no one can become a real Bible student are now set forth.
