1385. Job Sanctified His Sons
Job Sanctified His Sons
"And it was so, when the days of their feasting were gone about, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all: * * Thus did Job continually" (Job_1:5).
In Job's burnt offerings, and in Job's sanctifying his sons by reason of these offerings, we have a most striking type of the Lord Jesus, passing on to the Cross, and taking with Him His own. He said: "For their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they also might be sanctified" (Joh_17:19).
The Lord Jesus Christ, the Holy One, was set aside, dedicated unto death. He died upon Calvary's Cross a willing sacrifice.
In this death, however, the Lord Jesus was sacrificed in behalf of His sons; He died that we might live; He suffered that we might sing. In His death, He sanctified us, made us holy through His Blood, and set us aside unto Himself.
