1386. Job Was Approved of God
Job Was Approved of God
"And the Lord said unto satan, Hast thou considered My servant Job, that there is none like him?" (Job_1:8).
We have before us, God's approval of Job. We are carried forward to that scene, when Jesus Christ stood in the waters of the Jordan as John baptized Him. After His baptism, the heavens were opened and God spoke out of the blue, and He seemed to be saying unto satan, "Hast thou considered My servant, Christ, there is none like Him in all of the earth?"
Unto men, God said in very fact; "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased" (Mat_17:5).
Again we are carried forward to the scene of the transfiguration. Peter, James and John, under the suggestion of Peter, would have done obeisance unto Moses, unto Elijah, and unto Christ; building three tabernacles, one for each, without giving any preference to either. Immediately God spoke out of the blue and said: "This is MY beloved Son, hear ye Him."
God would not for one moment allow Moses and Elijah to stand on equality with Christ. Moses was great as the giver of the Law; Elijah was great among the Prophets; but Jesus Christ was greater than either–He was greatest of all.
